WIP Wednesday: Christmas Knitting -- Second pair of Woodland Mittens Almost Done!

A knit mitten with cables done in blue yarn. The mitten is still live on double-pointed needles. The thumb gusset stitches are on a stitch holder. Mitten and yarn are tucked into a wooden yarn bowl.

Well, welcome back to WIP Wed, where I'm officially continuing the frantic Christmas Knitting. I'm working on two pairs of Woodland Mittens for my younger cousins!  I finished one pair (and should post them for FO Friday), and am almost-but-not-quite done!  I didn't finish them for the family party, so I'll have to deliver them to my aunt sometime this week (or maybe on Sunday).  Oh, and lesson learned -- do not make two right-hand mittens and no left hand mittens!   I had to ravel back to the cuff of the last mitten to turn it into a left hand mitten!

Yarn for these is Jamieson's of Shetland Double Knitting in "Lagoon". which is the second set of skeins I got it at the Barrie Fibre Spirit Festival back in August.  I'm really enjoying the Jamieson yarn -- this is the first time I've worked with it (well, second time, now),   I had one knot, but it's otherwise been great!  The balls are small (25g), but two balls are still more then enough for a pair of mittens.

Needles are my *HiyaHiya 3.5 mm dpns. And, just to confuse folks, I'm actually only working on two dpns now, similar to Magic Loop. I find that I can do that with some things that are a smaller circumference.  I just split the back of the hand to one needle and the front of the hand to another needle, and I don't end up with too much laddering!

The Yarn bowl is from *Natural Knot Wood, and I've been singing the praises of it since I got it. Sadly, Wayne of Natural Knot Wood passed away in July, so the shop will only remain open long enough to deplete the remaining stock.  It's a loss to the creative community to have lost Wayne -- he made amazing tools for fiber folks, toys, and more.

The star stitch marker is a gift from a few years ago from a fellow knitter at a National Novel Writing Month meetup!  Folks were both writing and knitting, and someone was giving out stitch markers!

Other then the mittens, it's been pretty quiet on the knitting front here.  I'm hoping to actually have this mitten finished for today.

Well I think that's it for this week's WIP Wed, and thanks for reading along! This is the last WIP Wednesday post of 2018, so I'll be back on Jan 9th, 2019!  Hope you're all enjoying your holiday crafting, and I shall see you folks when I return!

And, as always, I'd love to see what you're working on -- please, feel free to post links to your projects in the comments, so I can see all the amazing things. Also, if you're working on one of my patterns, tag it as #sarahdawnsdesigns so I can find you on Social Media!
