Welcome back to WIP Wed!   With the Anghymesur Shawl done and now just waiting to be blocked (and yes, I did win my game of Yarn Chicken!)  I've gone back to working on some other projects, and the Symbol Gloves was the next thing-that-needs-to-be-finished.

Double-knitting in the round on dpns. The yarns are green and dark brown. The increases for the thumb gusset are marked with silver dolphin stitch markers, and the work is sitting in a wooden yarn bowl.
I'm still working along on the thumb gusset.   Despite putting in a good bit of time on these, it's a bit disheartening that it doesn't seem to show!  But, there is progress.  The thumb gusset is wider still, and I'll soon be putting those stitches onto a stitch holder.   Double knitting isn't hard anymore, but I don't think I'll consider it fast anytime in the near future!

Yarn is *Northbound Knitting Superwash Merino/Nylon Fingering, in "Littoria" and "Espresso".  It's not a super-soft and squishy sock yarn, but it's definitely tough, which is what I want for a pair of fingerless gloves.

Needles are *2mm HiyaHiya double-pointed needles.  Right now, I'm thrilled I have the HiyaHiyas for this this.  I have a set of Aero 2mm needles, but I find that Aero points tend to be quite dull (I find that true of all the Aero needles I have, but that might just be wear!)  Even with the HiyaHiyas, I'm still having the occasional trouble on the m1p stitch for the thumb gusset -- I don't want to think about how hard that would be with a duller tip!

The *dolphin stitch markers are awesome finds from *EfficientSense's Etsy Store. Though they are the opening stitch markers (they use a lobster claw), I've just got them looped over the needles for the moment.  I do much prefer opening stitch markers, I've knit closed ones into my knitting one too many times!

Yarn bowl is from the amazing *Natural Knot Wood, and I've been singing the praises of it since I got it. Sadly, Wayne of Natural Knot Wood passed away in July, so the shop will only remain open long enough to deplete the remaining stock. His signature is burned into the bottom of the bowl, and it gives me a funny feeling every time I see it, to think that he's not in this world any more.  But his work lives on in his beautiful yarn bowls, spindles, and wooden toys, which are sure to be treasured!

With a bit more knitting time coming up in my schedule, I'm hoping to dedicate some more time to these.  These are a proof-of-concept for an idea -- eventually, I'm hoping to do a whole set of double-knit fingerless mittens with different geometric designs and patterns -- but I want to make sure the idea is solid, first, so this is my first proof!  I'm a bit concerned about fit, since the circumference ended up at 63 sts, which is running a bit big. The stitch pattern is 21 stitches, so I had to work in multiples of 21.  But, so far so good!

Anyway, thanks for reading along!  So, what are you folks working on this WIP Wed?  I'd love to see, so please, share in the comments!

    1. Aww, thank you! Sadly, the artist is no longer with us; but I'm thrilled I was able to get one of his bowls.
