These mittens are a sister pattern to the Garden Trellis Hat; done in the same yarn -- the
amazing Scuttleship Romney from Bobolink yarns. They are designed for four adult sizes, and a customizable cuff length, too!

They use 2 50g skeins of the Romney Fingering, or, 1 100g skein of fingering-weight sock yarn.

With simple bobbles and post stitches, it's a good introduction to slightly more 'adventurous' crochet, while still being simple enough to work on while watching tv or commuting on the train. The palm is done in alternating rows of sc and dc to create a denser fabric that helps protect the palm of your hands.

The palm is done in alternating rows of sc and dc, so as to make the palm more stable and durable.  The bobbles and lace pattern runs up the centre back of the hand. The length of the cuff is adjustable to the wearer’s preference. These mitts are worked from the cuff to the top of the hand.  Stitches are increased to form the thumb gusset, and then the thumb is worked in rounds of HDC (and all of this is US crochet instructions!)

Now, onto the other important part, the Crochet-Along Details!

For the month of September, every finished pair of mittens has a chance to win a  $30 CAD Gift Card from The Knitting Loft (don't worry, despite the name, they love crocheters too!)  or, 4 patterns of your choice from my Web Shop! And, don't worry, WIPs are very much accepted, so, here's your chance to defeat Second Mitten Syndrome!

You can enter the CAL by posting on Facebook, Instagram, and, Discord (for a non-Meta option!) giving 3 chances to win in total!

I always look forward to seeing your Finished Objects! Please post them to various social media with #SarahDawnsDesigns, and #SarahDawnsDesignsSept2026 and/or share them to the Facebook Group or to the Discord! That way, I can see the awesome that you make!

Good Luck, and happy hooking!
