Welcome to the March Knit-Along with the Ar Lan y Môr Socks!  Given their inspiration of seashores and running water, they seemed perfect for the early spring thaw of March (plus, I've been going back and updating old patterns and they were on the list!)  They were originally published in Knotions Magazine and have been a staple of mine ever since!

Don't have the pattern?  That's not a problem, the Ar Lan y Môr Socks pattern is 50% off for the Knit-Along, right through the month of March.  You can get the pattern in my Web Shop, Etsy, and Ravelry!  And patrons have access to the pattern, you can download it in the Patreon Shop

The Ar Lan y Môr (Welsh for ‘by the seaside’) Socks were inspired by the ripples of seaweed and other water plants that grow just below the waterline of many lakes, rivers and seas around the world, as well as the imagery of the Welsh folk song of the same name – flowers and grasses rippling beside the sea.

The garter and stockinette stitch lace gives the socks some stretch without being too snug on the leg. The leg and foot length are both adjustable to the wearer’s preference, and the stitch pattern is complicated enough to keep some interest, while simple enough to be ‘television knitting’. These socks are knit from the cuff down, the heel is a heel-flap and gusset, and the toe is grafted with kitchener stitch.

They come in two adult sizes, with a leg and foot circumference of 7 (8.25) inches, 18 (21) cm, and an adjustable foot and cuff length.  The sizes are non-gendered because gendered sizing annoys me --especially for something like socks!

The sample is shown using *Cascade Heritage yarn in the colourway “Anis”. Any fingering weight sock yarn should work up well for these!  Both sizes only need one 100g skein of sock yarn.

Now, onto the other important part, the Knit-Along Details!

For the month of March, every finished pair of socks has a chance to win a  $30 CAD Gift Card from The Knitting Loft, or, 4 patterns of their choice from my Web Shop!

I am no longer providing Gift Cards to KnitPicks/WeCrochet, given their stated stance on the Melt The ICE hats.

TLDR: WeCrochet/KnitPicks ambassadors are no longer allowed to link up any sort of 'resistance' crafting as brand ambassadors.  I've worked with both Knit Picks and WeCrochet for years and was an ambassador myself for a time.  I'm - I think the polite phrasing is 'horrifically disappointed', but, personally, I suspect it's due to their purchase by private equity.

Also, I'm trying to find the original video that broke this on IG, but it seems to have vanished. If someone's IG search skills are better then mine, I'd very much appreciate it - you can drop a link in the comments of the blog!

Anyway, for my US folks (or anywhere where shipping and/or tariffs will be a pain-in-the-behind) I'm happy to offer the pattern prizes instead if that's easier, and yes, I can gift the patterns on Ravelry if that is a safe option for you!

Onto the KAL details!
