Buttoned Skirt Test-Knitting Call!

Welcome back to another test-knitting call;  right now, I'm looking for testers for a Buttoned Wrap Skirt pattern.

This wrap skirt is designed to be the balance between the beautiful lines of lightweight summer skirts; and the warmer knitwear that’s required during a cold winter. It also adds buttons in addition to a tie – so, if you’re ever caught out on a windy day, there’s much less risk of a ‘wardrobe malfunction!’

The skirt has a sloping front edge, to add a distinct design element to an otherwise simple pattern. Contrast buttons along that edge are both functional and an aesthetic focal point.

This skirt is being tested on behalf of a magazine; so things are a touch different - that's one of the reasons there's no photo here on the blog!  If you'd like to see a rough sketch of the skirt, click through on Yarnpond.  And if you still have questions about the pattern after reading this blog post, drop me a comment or an e-mail!  Also, this means that, unlike my usual testing, I have to ask that you not post any pictures to social media/Ravelry/etc, until after the magazine has gone live with the pattern.

This skirt pattern comes in 11 sizes, to fit sizes ranging from a 24 inch waist to a 66 inch waist. It's a wrap skirt, so it's designed to be worn with no or even negative ease at the waist, adjusted by a tie.

The sample is being worked in Olive and Two Ewe's Tolkien yarn, which is a fingering-weight blend of cotton and merino.  Any fingering-weight merino or merino blend would work up quite well.

I'm looking for 4 testers for each size of the skirt, which leads to 44 testers in total!

To test, you will need to make a Yarnpond account (you do need to sign up if you haven't before, but, don't worry, it's free, all you need is an e-mail address!) From there, you can link your Instagram and Ravelry accounts, if you have either.

And, for those who can't use Ravelry, please, don't worry, you don't have to have a Ravelry account to participate - if you're a new tester, I just need somewhere I can see some examples of your work, so Instagram, or even a blog, is perfect!

Deadline for the test is March 14th 2025, and, unlike my usual tests, this date is fixed, unfortunately.  Testers who complete the test will receive the two patterns of their choice from my self-published patterns as a huge 'thank you' for helping me test this!

If you want to be notified about future testing calls, the best place to be is in my testing group over on Yarnpond!  Folks there will get notified automatically when I post a new test (and there's no requirement to test anything - test only what  you want to test!)  I also post testing calls here on the blog, and to my other social media platforms (FacebookPatreonInstagram, Tumblr, and a  Discord Server!), as well as sending out calls to those on my mailing list, as well, so hopefully, anyone who's interested won't miss a testing call!

And if you know someone else who might be interested, please, as always feel free to share this post with them! I don't usually fill my pattern tests, so, the more testers the better!
