Alright, so (finally!) it's nice enough to take my knitting outside!  And, outside knitting requires project bags.  So this was the perfect excuse to dust off and update the Mitered Drawstring Project Bag Pattern for the April Featured Pattern and Knit-Along!

Don't worry, if you don't have the pattern, it's 50% off through the month of April!

A drawstring bag made primarily of joined mitered squares. The top has eyelets with a twisted cord threaded through them, and a skein of yarn is partially out of the open bag.

Inspiration for this Mitered Drawstring Project Bag came from the (now defunct) Designer’s Challenge forum on Ravelry. The challenge was to create a bag using mitered squares, and this was the result! I was looking for something durable, big enough to be a project bag for my knitting, and something that would use up those leftover skeins I had in my stash. This pattern uses about half-a-skein of the suggested yarn per colour, (a little more for the MC) making it the perfect project to use up leftover half-skeins of yarn!

The yarn used for the sample is Red Heart Eco-Cotton Blend, (which is now, sadly, discontinued), shown in the colourways "Chocolate" "Denim", "Snow," and "Moss"  but any worsted or aran-weight cotton yarn should work up fine -- you could also work it in acrylic, or wool as well!   If you are looking for a close substitution, I'd suggest *Lion Brand's Re-Up Yarn, which is a similar blend of recycled cotton and recycled polyester.

You can buy the pattern through Etsy,  in my Web Shop, or, on my Patreon Shop, the discount is available on all platforms. (Psst, Featured Pattern Subscribers and above on Patreon can just download the pattern for free from the Patreon Shop!)

 Now, onto the Knit-Along!

For the month of April, every finished bag has a chance to win a $25 Gift Card from Knit Picks (US/Canada only at the moment, sorry!) or, 4 patterns of the winner's choice from my Web Shop!  To enter on the blog, simply post a link to a picture of your completed bag by April 30, 2024.  Please note that the bag doesn't have to have been started in April, just finished in April,, -- so it's a good reason to pull out any WIPs!

Please note, due to the seizure/migraine risks, you may not post links to Ravelry.com in the comments of this blog. Such links will be removed and will not count as entries to the Knit-Along. IG posts, public Facebook posts, blog posts, or even direct image links are all acceptable alternatives.

You can also enter to win by posting to the giveaway on Facebook, Instagram, and, Discord, giving 4 chances to win in total!

I always look forward to seeing your Finished Objects! Please post them to various social media with #SarahDawnsDesigns, and #SarahDawnsDesignsApr2024 and/or share them to the Facebook Group or to the Discord! That way, I can see the awesome that you folks make!

**One entry per person for each project per platform (four possible entries total for each completed project). One Winner will be drawn at random using random number generation. Prize will be distributed by e-mail, Participants may enter the same project on more then one platform, but may only enter each project once per platform.
