September Featured Pattern and Knit-Along: Ar Lan Y Môr Socks

Alright, we're just starting into fall, the nights are getting a bit cooler (thank God!) and, occasionally, I'm needing to wear socks again, not just sandals!

So, in celebration of the wearing of handmade socks again (I delight in whenever I can wear my knits!)  the Ar Lan Y Môr Socks are 50% off for the month of September!

someone wearing a pair of fingering-weight socks; knit in striping yarn that goes from blue to grey. The socks have a subtle lace pattern.

The Ar Lan y Môr (Welsh for ‘by the seaside’) Socks were inspired by the ripples of seaweed and other water plants that grow just below the waterline of many lakes, rivers and seas around the world, as well as the imagery of the Welsh folk song of the same name – flowers and grasses rippling beside the sea.

The garter and stockinette stitch lace gives the socks some stretch without being too snug on the leg. The leg and foot length are both adjustable to the wearer’s preference, and the stitch pattern is complicated enough to keep some interest, while simple enough to be ‘television knitting’. These socks are knit from the cuff down, the heel is a heel-flap and gusset, and the toe is seamed by grafting.

This pattern has written instructions, and the stitch pattern is both written and charted. This pattern also has an accessible large print option that is compatible with screen-reading software. This option includes only the written instruction.

You can buy the pattern through Etsy, or in my Web Shop, the discount is available on both platforms.  It's also on sale over on Ravelry, as well!

Now, onto the Knit-Along!

For the month of September, any finished pair of socks has a chance to win a Digital Copy of Nomadic Knits Issue Ten! To enter on the blog, simply post a link to a picture of your completed socks by September 30, 2022.  Please note that the socks don't have to have been started in September, just finished in  September, -- so it's a good reason to pull out any WIPs!

Please note, due to the seizure/migraine risks, you may not post links to Ravelry.com in the comments of this blog. Such links will be removed and will not count as entries to the Knit-Along. IG posts, public Facebook posts, blog posts, or even direct image links are all acceptable alternatives.

You can also enter to win by posting to the giveaway on FacebookInstagram, and, Discord, giving 4 chances to win in total!

I always look forward to seeing your Finished Objects! Please post them to various social media with #SarahDawnsDesigns, and #SarahDawnsDesignsSept2022 and/or share them to the Facebook Group or to the Discord! That way, I can see the awesome that you folks make!

**One entry per person for each project per platform (four possible entries total for each completed project). One Winner will be drawn at random using random number generation.
