Welcome back to WIP Wed! So, my newest WIP is for the Pattern Muses over on Patreon, first inspired by finding yarn I'd forgotten I had while I was stash-diving! I've actually come up with a tentative name for these all on my own (shocking, I know), but if you have a better name suggestion, feel free to chime in over on Patreon!
So, these are coming along nicely, and I hope to have them done soon! With the Stratford festival broadcasting on Youtube now, there's no shortage of stuff to watch while I work!

The stitch pattern I found for these is the Feather Stitch (and thanks to this wonderful tutorial from Hooked by Robin that showed me how to do it!) But, because it looks a little bit different in the round vs worked flat, the mitten doesn't spiral perfectly. It goes a bit wonky where the thumb is. So "Feather on the Wind": a feather drifting this way and that in the wind. (Also a paraphrasing of one of my favorite lines from the movie 'Serenity.'!)
If you look closely, you can see, I still have many ends to weave in!
And yes, the thumb is a bit loose for my liking. I think I might rip out the thumb and put in a few decreases to better shape the thumb gusset. Shall experiment on mitten number two!
Yarn is Tanis Fiber Arts Amber Label in OOAK Colourway "Luxe", and I'm really happy with how this is working up. . . . even if the yarn itself did horribly tangle in the skein. The skein had become untwisted after several years in stash storage, making winding an adventure. I did, in fact, have to cut the yarn in a few places to salvage it. But once I got it untangled I was felt much more charitable towards it, and have really enjoyed working with it. It feels -glorious- on the hands with the cashmere and silk in the blend, and it's wonderfully squishy and warm, too. Also, I definitely won't use all the skein, so there might be a second pair of these in the future.
Hook is a *5 mm hook from Darn Good Yarn -- it came in the first month of the *Darn Good Yarn Subscription Box (which was ever so generously gifted to me by JennyKnits on Twitch!) The hook has been wonderful to work with (the purple ombre has rubbed off a bit with a lot of use, but hasn't done any harm/rough spots to the hook itself). And the subscription box was fun -- the skein of yarn was a *glorious multi-coloured worsted silk, that I have to swatch with more to figure out a pattern for! (It included a knitting pattern and a crochet pattern, too, but I'd much rather play around with this yarn myself!)
So, these are coming along nicely, and I hope to have them done soon! With the Stratford festival broadcasting on Youtube now, there's no shortage of stuff to watch while I work!
