After a (failed) game of Yarn Chicken, the Marianna Shawl is finally done. . . and yes, it's huge. 1578 yards huge. And a huge thanks to the wonderful knitter who stepped up and mailed me yarn so that I could finish the pattern!
Yarn is *Knit Picks Gloss Lace in the now-discontinued colourway "Marina". The yarn base is still available, just this colourway was bought during a sale several years ago. (Hence why running out of yarn was a serious problem)!
It's worked in the round from the centre out on a 3 mm circular. I did (barely) manage to fit all 580 stitches on a circular with a 16 inch cable, (much to my surprise), but that was helped by the fact that the edging is knit flat and joined. (The edging, much to my surprise, took an entire skein in and of itself, but I'm thrilled at how it turned out!)
I'm thrilled to have this done -- I'm so happy with how it came out, but I'm also glad to have it done and off the needles. It was getting. . . rather unwieldy!
Anyway, stay tuned for the test-knit call coming soon; and, on that note, a quick reminder that Patrons get access to the test-knit draft and have a guaranteed spot in the test-knitting process!
What have you folks finished in the past few weeks? Post your links in the comments so I can admire your awesomeness!
Beautiful Shawl! I am looking forward to seeing it for sale on Ravelry.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you! I'm hoping, if all goes to plan, to have it up on Ravelry for mid-July. So look for it then (and, of course, I'll post here on the blog when it's up on Ravelry as well!)
