The Wrought Mithril Hat is a fingering-weight hat with lace and cables, knit in the round from the brim up. It's a perfect piece for those not-quite cold spring night, or as a hat to wear under a winter hood!

The cable pattern and crown decreases are charted, with written instructions available as a secondary download.  Also, this pattern is my first pattern that has an accessible large print option that is compatible with screen-reading software. If you choose the accessible option, it includes the written instruction.  All versions are included with the purchase!

This hat was created as part of the Initiate Knit Design Challenge, hosted by Francoise Danoy of Aroha Knits. The goal of the challenge was to help people get their design ideas off the ground, and this lace and cable fingering-weight hat was the result!

For the initial prompt, I drew inspiration from the vertical lines of wrought-iron fencing and the leading of stained glass. The result is a hat that’s lightweight, but still warm!

The yarn is *Northbound Knits Merino/Silk Fingering.  and the sample is knit in the colourway "Ethereal"; shown in size Small.  When looking for a substitute, most fingering-weight yarns would work well. I’d suggest wool or alpaca for a cold-weather hat, but you could also work it in cotton or linen for warmer weather.

And finally, this post wouldn't be complete without thanks to my amazing Pattern Muses over on Patreon!  This was the first release for the Pattern Muses in 2019, and the pattern is now available to Pattern Muses over on Patreon!
