WIP Wednesday: Montego Shawl

Well, I'm taking a break from the Marianna Shawl.  I've finished to where the edging begins, and now it's up to Patrons to decide the edging! (Poll closes March 4th, so get your votes in!)

In the mean time, I'm continuing my quest to finish up old WIPs, in this case, a very old WIP from 2014 (eeek!)  I started it as a KAL project, and never remotely finished it.   I do still love it, though, so it's now my quest to finish it up.   Pattern is Montego by Cheri McEwen, and it's knitting up wonderfully!  The pattern is incredibly customization, but it does take a minute to figure out how it goes together, especially for the version that you've chosen.  Once you get there, though, it works out just fine!  

Yarn is the now-discontinued Claudia Handpainted Yarns Silk Lace in "Baby Boy"  It's gorgeous, but it's definitely slippery, being 100% silk. It's also very sensitive to changes in my tension, so this will -definitely- need to be blocked. I'm not sure how I will block it, because the border is beaded.  Usually I steam-press lace to block it, but I can't do that as well with the beads. I -think- I should be able to block the edging using the iron and a damp towel, but I'm not sure.

 Anyway, I've got a few different options for beads -- I'd like to use some bigger beads from my stash -- the shawl is super light-weight and I think the weight of some beads would help it out. 

Needles are my Addi 3.75 mm needles.  I got them years and years ago at a boxing day sale, and I do quite love them.  They've been in this WIP for a while, and I'd actually forgotten that they were my only pair of Addis.  I do quite like the Addis, on coming back to them.  But, I find -- and this may seem weird -- that the nickel plating smells strange, and leaves a strange smell on my hands and the yarn.  It's a metallic smell. (Does that seem perfectly strange? I have no idea). 

The stitch marker you can see is a set of *Ocean Shells from *WineMakersSister Etsy Shop.  It clips nicely into the work, and is showing the centre of the shawl.
