It's with great trepidation that I announce my first Crochet Pattern -- the Chevron Stitch Hood and Scarf, which is available for free on Ravelry!

A woman wearing a hood with a scarf. The hood is done in worsted-weight crochet in a chevron pattern. The yarn is variegated yarn that runs between purple, black, and grey.
You can find the design on Ravelry, or, you can download the PDF directly by clicking here!

So, where did this scarf and hood start, and what prompted me to design in Crochet? Well, I wanted a hood and scarf that even a newcomer to crochet could make and was inspired by this beautiful but, simple, crochet lace stitch pattern. By adding some seaming to make a hood, a beautiful, unique accessory is created that even a beginner can make!

The scarf and hood is worked flat as a rectangle, then seamed to create the hood. It uses chain stitch and double crochet to make the crochet lace. The lace pattern is both written and charted. It is written for one size, but is easily adjustable to the amount of yarn you have.

The sample was made using *Single Silky Targhee from Blue Moon Fiber Arts, which is 70% Targhee wool and 30% tussah silk. If you are substituting yarn, any DK or Light Worsted single yarn with 50% or more wool will work up just as well.  It works up well to help break up more varigaged yarns, but will also work up well in a solid or semi-solid yarn as well!

As always, I look forward to seeing what you make, and please, tag your creations on Social Media with #SarahDawnsDesigns, so I can find your awesome things! If you've got feedback, comments, or questions about the pattern, you can comment here on the blog, post to the Ravelry Pattern thread, send me a PM on Ravelry, or e-mail me at sarahdawnsdesigns@gmail.com.

I do hope you enjoy my newest pattern release, and happy crafting!
