Well, I've been working on this hat off and on on my Twitch Streams, and I'm thrilled to say it's getting near the crown decreases! I'm on round 40 of 48, and it looks like I won't need a second pattern repeat to make the right depth of the hat! I still have to go through and figure out the crown chart -- I usually try and keep the crown decreases in pattern as much as I can, but that shouldn't take too long, I hope!
A fingering-weight hat still live on double-pointed needles, the needles have household elastics wrapped around their ends. The hat is knit in pale blue fingering-weight yarn with a lace and cables pattern. There are two stitch markers. One has a small silver seashell charm, while the other has a small silver flower charm.

Needles are my 3.25 Aero double-pointed needles. They're duller tips then some of my other needles, but that could be from years and years of use, since they've had at least one owner before me! I do find them a bit slippery when working with silk-blend yarn like this hat, (hence my wonderful hack of household elastics)! The elastics do work as a knitting hack, but I do plan to get a couple of these *Point Protectors/Stoppers from Knit Picks, While the elastics do work, it always takes a moment to pull them off, and that disrupts my knitting 'flow'. (Writing that looks ridiculous, but I hope that fellow knitters/crocheters know what I mean!)

I do have to admit, I think that for a second sample, I'll probably hold off and work this on circulars.  There's the occasional cable that has to cross between dpns, and that's always a pain-in-the-behind.  But, the dpns work out ok for this for the most part, so that's the important part right now!

Yarn is *Northbound Knitting Merino/Silk Fingering, in "Ethereal", and I love this yarn! It's a bit slippery with the silk content, but it's gorgeous yarn! It's one of the rare points I wish I had this on wooden needles. But wooden dpns and I do not agree -- I have a major tendency to somehow snap them.

I did have a bit of trouble winding this yarn on my ball winder, since it is a bit slippery, so I'm occasionally getting small 'yarn barfs' as I work, But I figure that's user-error, and none of them have been serious tangles (though, of course now that I've written that I'll end up with a major tangle today -- Murphy's Law, right?)

The stitch markers are my usual *silver rose stitch markers from *Efficient Sense's Etsy Store. I'm using them to mark the pattern repeats -- though I did remove them from where the pattern repeats fell between needles, since they were causing a bit of laddering.     And, the beginning/end of round marker (that you can see in the picture) is a cute *little shell marker from *WinemakersSister's Etsy Shop

Well, that's it for this week's WIP Wed, and thanks for reading!  If you'd like to see me knit (or attempt to knit) the Vertical Lines Hat, it's currently one of my projects on over on my Twitch Stream! (I also stream my pattern design process, as well, so you'll probably see the drafting of the crown decrease chart, too!)

And, I'd love to see what you're working on -- please, feel free to post links to your projects in the comments, so I can see all the amazing things. And, if you're working on one of my patterns, tag it as #sarahdawnsdesigns so I can find it on Social Media!
