I know it's been a bit since I showed you folks the Everyday Socks. The pattern isn't mine, it's a free pattern available on Ravelry from designer Erica Lueder. But, I took the socks to the Toronto Business Marketing Forum (and got called out for knitting during a presentation, but he was cool with it!)
And, I got to the heel flap! For some reason, on these socks, I ended up with only 28 sts (rather then 32 sts) on the instep. I have no idea why. But I didn't want to unravel the entire sock, so I decided to just add two extra stitches from the gusset on each edge. It's a cheat, but it won't be too noticeable.
The yarn is Nerd Girl Yarns Astral, in the colourway "Pluto," which is 75% Merino, 20% Nylon, and 5% Stellina for a bit of sparkle! Sadly, this particular colour is no longer available, since it was an exclusive dyed up for *Eat.Sleep.Knit in 2016. But the Astral Base is still available from the Nerd Girl Yarns Web Store! The colour is actually a bit more blue then the photo here, it's one of those colours that's hard to photograph true-to-life, it seems!
Needles are my *HiyaHiya 2mm dpns. I like knitting my socks on the smallest needles I can manage, I've even knit on 1.5mm needles but I didn't like those, they were just too thin to be comfortable. I find the socks wear better on smaller needles, since they're more dense.
I'm hoping to finish these socks over the next little while -- these have become my transit knitting, or the knitting I take to public places, so I'll be working on them off and on. This is sock number two, so it actually won't take super-long to finish!
Well, that's it for this week's WIP Wed, and thanks for reading!
