WIP Wednesday: First Half of the Woodland Hat

So I've missed the last few WIP Wed posts, and for that, I'm supremely sorry.  I had no desire to do so (it actually feels a touch odd to not have posted WIP Wed for this long!)  Between it falling on the 1rst (and conflicting with the Featured Pattern Release), and then the 8th, (the same date as the start of my Birthday Giveaway), I just didn't have an opportunity to post, and didn't want to spam you folks with double posts!
A blue hat laying flat. The hat is knit in worsted-weight yarn, and cabled. It has a long bottom edge knit in 1 by 1 ribbing.
But, this week, I've actually been productive -- I've done some work on my Woodland Hat!  Those who follow my Studio Livestreams over on Youtube might have seen some work on it -- but now, it's half-done!

I finished the first part last night at Knit Night, and even got my ends woven in!  Now, I've got to pick out that provisional cast on, and work the other half of the hat! (Note to self, don't use a provisional cast on in a similar colour to what you're actually knitting -- it's going to be a pain to get that scrap yarn out!)

Yarn is *Squoosh Fiber Arts Ultra Worsted in "Rock Candy", which was an *Eat.Sleep.Knit exclusive colourway from 2017.  Needles are my old 4mm Aero DPNs (I was going to pick up another set of 4mm Lykke Interchangable tips at Knit Night, but sadly, they were sold out at that particular moment, which is rare!  Maybe next week!)    In order to keep the stitches on the ends of the dpns, I've been using elastics, and I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that.  Oh well, it's not the end of the world. And, the use of elastics means I can submit this project for the Eat.Sleep.Knit "Pull A MacGyver" badge -- if you have no idea what I'm talking about, *click here for the info on the Eat.Sleep.Knit badge program!
1 by 1 ribbing in-the-round on double-pointed needles. Rubber Elastics are wrapped around the needles, and a silver rose stitch marker is clipped into the work. Yarn is a deep blue.

The *silver rose stitch marker that you can see in the second picture is one I've shown here before, from *Efficient Sense's Etsy Store.  I've shown these markers a few times now, I think, which shows how much I love and use them, I hope!

The first prototype of this hat (knit way back in 2015) was knit on 4.5mm needles, and came out a touch big.  On the 4mm needles, at the moment, it's a teeny bit small, but that's before blocking. It will grow with wet-blocking, so it should be just perfect!

Anyway, I know I've been quiet with WIP Wed for the last little bit, so thanks for reading, and thanks for bearing with me!

As always, I'd love to hear and see what you folks are making!  Please, feel free to post your crafty projects in the blog comments, so I can be amazed by your awesome work!  Until next week!
