Hello all, and welcome back to the first WIP Wed of 2018!
What have I been up to over the holidays? I've been working along on the now very belated Birthday Sweater. And yes, it's quite late, I know.
And oh, look, what's this odd-looking thing? Well, it's a sweater sleeve. Only one sweater sleeve, that refused to lay flat (or in any other decent position) to get a good photograph.
But, photography woes aside, it's still progressing along. I took this to Knit Night and got many compliments on the yarn. Sadly, the yarn is discontinued -- yarn is Dream in Colour Groovy in the colourway "Emerald Darkness."
As of last night, I've started the second sleeve, so I'm hoping to have this finished soon-ish. The pattern (Sterling Cables Sweater, from Bernat) says to have all the sleeve cable crossing the same way, but I've decided to mirror the cables on the second sleeve. We'll see how that looks!
Also, I've discovered that my usual trick of knitting through loading screens and dialog holds true with Fallout 4 (it was my treat I got with Christmas Money, so yeay!), so I've been working along with that, as well.
I did get a chance to try the sleeve on my gift-ee. It looks odd knit up, but on the arm, it looks like it should actually fit. Yeay! I was worried about fit, considering I'm knitting the Medium size, but with a few mods, since my giftee didn't want quite that much positive ease.
Well, I'll keep working on this for now, though there are several other projects coming down the pipes. Stay tuned for more of what I'm working on, and thanks for reading!

Lovely work. I'm not surprised that you got so many compliments on your yarn: it's beautiful. And lots of sympathy on the challenges of capturing it accurately in photos. Light is my usual obsession. It never ceases to amaze me how the tone of the colour changes so much with the light intensity.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, photography is still a challenge for me. I'm always envious of those who can take good pictures.
In this case, it wasn't just the lighting, but also getting it to lie properly -- because of the sleeve cap shaping, it didn't want to lie flat!
